tough shifting into 1st geat

I have a 2004 RK Classic and it interminatly is tough getting it into 1st gear shifting down. Most folks have told me its just a Harley transmission. What are yalls thoughts. It will go into first but with a bit of grinding.

I had an 03 rkc and it never did that.

My '09 six speed goes in Real easy. From neutral to first or Second gear to 1st, real easy with no grinding.

I would start by having the clutch adjusted properly.

My 05 RKC shifts smoothly through all gears.
A clutch adjust may be in order.
What kind of lube you run in it? I'm running Mobil 1 75/140. Much better than the HD stuff IMO

Adjust the clutch and use a good synthetic oil. It will make a world of difference.
