I keep my bike down at my shop in a storage room.
Last night as I'm walking towards the back door to lock up I brushed against a vanity that I was going to put into the office bathroom. When 2 steps past, it crashed to the floor breaking the sink in half.
I lock the door thinking that I should have installed it a few weeks ago.
As I walk towards it to pick up the mess I realize it missed the saddle bag by a couple inches.
That was my wake up call, time to make a buffer zone.

Yes too close for comfort.

I also "try" to keep a buffer zone around my bikes. Mine are also covered, and I keep a medium weight throw rug over the front fender, under the cover. It has probably saved the fender from a couple of scratches/dings. It has also survived more than a couple of short trips around town when I forget to remove it.
