You can make the data link cable really easy. All you need is a Serial cable with a 9 pin SubD Female connector on one end then buy a Deutsch conncetor (DT06-4S) for the other. The pin out is as follows
data link end SubD end
Pin 1 to Pin 5
Pin 2 to Pin 1
Pin 3 to Pin 7
Pin 4 to Pin 9

why is there 4 wires the data link only uses 3 pins in the connector

That is the way the HD cables are wired. I sure this cable is use for all models. May difference models use differant pins. That a good question.

I have the older SERT not the Super SERT but both plug into the same datalink port. When I got mine there was only one option for the cables (which did not come with the SERT) I was lucky and the only one the dealer had was in the display case. For some reason he decided to just give it to me for free. At that price I didn't care about a box.

Elmosac, on your older cable, are you able to see how it is wired and how it compares to the VTBikers' cable above? Would be helpful for those with older SERT.
