If you have the slack in wire harness you can make a small solder joint( old wire to new wire) and pull the new wire through the loom with the

If you end up replacing the damaged part of wire measure the resitance of old wire compare it to the piece you are adding, you do not want any more voltage drop if you can help it JMO
 
I don't know if you are talking a load wire that is carrying cranking amps from the battery or a signal wire. If a load wire, you can take it to an auto parts store and match the gauge and length with something similar and if a signal wire, go to radio shack and match the gauge and length.
 
Green wire is only a 14 guage wire that triggers the solenoid. Cut it at the top of the harness, splice it to the bad section and solder then tape it. Now just pull it through the loom leading to the solenoid. Cut out the splice and the bad wire and hook up the new one.
 
you can use a thin coat hangar to pull the new wire thru. if you make your own wire ; use a heavier guage wire , soider the ends, then put some RTV to seal the ends.
