Stage 1 Options

Hi. I am a new Harley owner and new to this forum. I recently bought an XL883N Iron. I love it! I want to do a stage 1 conversion but the options are daunting and I can't find any real data on the performance of aftermarket parts.

I want performance but I don't like the look of the 2 to 1 options for sportsters. I've been told 2 to 2 exhausts decrease performance over stock with slip-on's.

I am considering going with V&H double barrel or the BUB Lakester or Straight Away (mid or long) with a SE Air Cleaner kit.

Would these options (or any) provide better performance than slip ons or is it all just theoretical?

Any help, whether technical or experience would be greatly appreciated!

from my personal experience, I have a XL1200 carburated model, put on screamin eagle air cleaner, changed jets, rhinehart slip-ons. The power increase was incredible, gas mileage suffered slightly
