Speedo Ground

I have a 2009 Fat Bob. Speedometer is dead, no lights, no odometer, no speed registered, bike starts and runs fine. All lights below the speedo seem to work as they should. I have checked fuses, removed speed sensor and cleaned it. (Ordered a new one but I honestly don’t think that is the problem). I am wondering if I have a ground problem. Can anyone give me some guidance? Is the Speedo ground the same point as the battery ground or is it grounded somewhere else? I have looked at wiring diagrams but what I found online are way above my level of vehicle wiring. If there is a separate ground for instruments where would it be.

I'm not familiar with your model, but many models have a ground wire from the instrument area to the top triple tree. This is on models with the inst. attached to the bars because the bars are rubber mounted. Check for a small black wire on the top triple tree.

Take the console off and remove the speedo. Clean all the wires that you find are connected under there.
Clean, grease them and tighten them. Every one of ‘em.
Then put it back together.
