Posted by "TQ" in reference to the claims that the Spectro GL5 can do damage to yellow metals in Harley transmissions.

I wrote to Spectro asking them the exact same question as that asked on the Mobil site. Here is their response:

Our Platinum synthetic gear oils are GL-5, however the additive contains a component which mitigates against the yellow metal corrosion you mention. John

Mitigate=To cause to become less harsh or hostile. "The additive contains a component that mitigates against yellow metal corrosion". I guess you will have to use your own judgement.

Mitigate: To make or become less severe,,, Hmmmmmmmmm To make it less of an effect on the yellow metal??? Mr. Data sounds like legal-ese to me.. :small3d014:

Mitigate means BAD from my perspective.

I had a Prosecuting Attorney once tell me they would be able to MITIGATE the charge, BUT the JUDGE interrupted him in mid sentence,,, SAYING,,,,

"Knowing the Defendant (me) GUILTY AS CHARGED":hummer

so much for Mitigating.:cry
