Something not right with my clutch

I had the entire clutch basket off and I was putting it back on, by the book, and when I went to torque down the main shaft nut and my clutch cable went totally slack. Now my cable has almost no movement and wont retun almost like it is seized. I dont know what to do about this. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I took the trans side cover off and I think it is a bad (sticky) clutch cable. I guess sitting for 14 years will do that. Guess I will ne replacing that.

You are correct, lube in the cables if left to water intrusion will rust, expecially if not properly lubed while it was being used during a portion of it's life. But if "maintenance ignored" the internal strands can fray and break causing a wire ball that will sieze inside the sheath...just before it breaks!

If it sat that long, I would replace the throttle cables also. Flush the brake lines also and check the capilers for any leaks.
