Shifter woes

Just a note to all of you with shifters that stick or are slow to return to neutral after a shift. Here in Orlando we get much rain and those of us that ride in it suffer the same problem. The water works the grease out of the shifter pivot shaft housing and the shifter will not return to neutral after each shift. I have taken mine apart and drilled a hole in the pivot housing, installed a grease fitting and solved my problem. Every oil change I give it a shot of grease and it stays free. Hope this will help.

Very god idea here, H D used to have grease fitting for the shifter shaft, I guess the bean counters saw this as a way to cut corners to add to the bottom line and sell more parts also:s
