I had the dealer put on the Stage 1 kit prior to me uplifting the bike so there is no way I could have compared original performance and fuel economy...Is there much difference

There's about a 10 HP and associated torque increase with the full stage 1 (intake, mufflers and fuel increase.)

whatever the difference the change is well worth it. And if you never knew before you got the bike you wont know the difference anyway.
