Screamin' Eagle Plugs?

Recently aquired a 2001 EFI Fatboy. There's been extensive motor and head work done to the bike. Was wondering if the high performance plugs are really needed or is this just snake oil? I always thought that as long as the heat range is right when it fires it's pretty much over with.

I use them, been told by what i perceive as a knowledgeable person s/e plugs fire quicker. designed for higher compression motors. use in my stock 09 fl.
