Rubbing noise

forgive me if this is not the place to post this but im new to comp stuff.my 95 1200 sporter i just bought runs and sounds great other than that in third gear cruising it sounds like metal slapping as it lugs,other gears on up do it also but not quit as bad as third. when idleing and rebbing up the sound isnt there.could this be as simple as a drive chain adjustment or ??? thanks tedsshed

kinda sounds like you need to adjust the primary chain...

If this is loose, the 3 wide chain will hit (rub) the chain case and make the sound you describe...
MY 95 sounded similar and the adjustment made the noise go away.

just food for thought ,,,,, LUGGING is not good for the harley.
