Riding without belt guards

I'm thinking about removing those ugly (edit) belt guards. Anybody ever have any problems doing that?

All it takes is one rock between the belt and pulley and the $$$ you spend will make you think again.

Ever replace a belt? :D

Judging from info gathered elsewhere, it seems that the odds of damaging anything are pretty high. So:

But I do appreciate your replies. Now about that ugly front fender???

Thats what happened to the previous owner of my bike.

1 rock tore a large chunk out of the belt and destroyed both pullies . If I remember correctly the bill would have come to $1000.00 just for parts.

I now own the bike and it was converted to chain and sprocket at 1/3 the cost.

Bad things happen with bad ideas IMO...seen a friend of mine after his belt went with no guard, tore him up pretty good. But this is one of those "personal preference" issues.
