Replacing handlebars?

I'd like to install bars on my 08 XL883 that get the bars a little higher and closer to me. I put a Mustang seat on the bike, which seats me a little higher than the stock seat. I'm thinking about possibly going with buckhorn bars. What do you guys think?

Anyway, I'm assuming I'm going to need longer cables and wiring and such to work with the new bars. How much do you think a bike mechanic would charge me to install the new bars and cabling? I don't think I want to tackle it myself.

Thanks,
Dave

with the sportster swapping the bars would not take much.
new grips nows your chance to get some nice ones.
you should be able to swap to buckhorns with out needing cables, other than that ou could fit pull back risers with the standard bar this will move the closer to you.
trust me when i say this is something you can do yourself

Can you link me to some risers that fit the XL883? I can't find any. Just for the custom models.

Bars from a Dyna Low Rider have an extra 1.5" of rise and 3" width over XL Custom bars. They're part #51056-06 - about $50 new and you don't need new cables. XL Low bars have an extra 2.5 " of rise but you would need brake cables to match.
