Rattling noise in front end?

Sounds like the calipers or brake pads, when I hit the fromt brake at idle noise disapears? Is this becouse of the brake pads floating around?

Quite possibly. You may have worn brake clips allowing some movement with the pads.

Check all the fasteners and thickness of the pads. Break anchors do wear, are these floating rotors? How many miles? Brake Caliper Maintenance - Harley Davidson Community

If it is the 89 bagger in your profile that is having the problem there is one fixed pad and one floating pad in the front brake the floating pad is held tight in its floating frame by a spring clip if the spring clip is not seated correctly the pad can rattle about a wee bit
