Last August, I bought a 2006 Dyna Glide that come with Screamin Eagle II muffler that are way too loud. The bike is equiped with windshield and saddlebags and the sound of the pipes resonate around me. Even if I use earplugs, I got a headache after a 2 to 3 hours ride.
The original baffles looks like the ones from Cycle Shack; not very fancy.
After much thinking, I found 3 ways to make them quieter without choking the engine.
The first and easy one is to buy the Smartpartz quiet baffles and put them in.
The second one is adding straight pipes baffles inside the SE II baffles, they have 1¾ inch holes opening.
The third one is buying some perforated tubing or even straight pipe baffles long enough; cutting the pipes from the original baffles, replacing them with the perforated pipe or straight pipe baffle, adding fibreglass matt around them and transforming them into glass pack straight through mufflers.
Opinions are welcome. This one of my winter projects that I will start soon. And the winter is loooong here in Quebec, Canada
