Question on Master Cyl

Does anyone know why one end of the handlebar Master Cylinder cover is formed higher than the other ?

I checked my manual and parts manual and no mention whether it matters which way you install it, and the gasket fits same both sides.

Kinda puzzled why it's not just symmetric?

Possibly has to do with the venting in the cover?

That and so you will have a level fluid when the handle bars are facing forward, less chance of picking up air from too low of fluid?:s

Well I know the gasket protrudes into the bowl about 1/8 of an inch so I can't really see what the cover could do either way since the gasket is gonna contact the fluid first.

In any case if it's important, I can't find any documentation from HD on it. There is a small square knotch in the cover on each side of the high end of the cover shape, but the fact that MOST bars would have the this be the high end of the bowl anyhow just seems to mute that.

I don't understand why it's not documented though, I've worked around engineers, and when they design something (like a knotch) it's there for whatever reason they had in mind.

I put it on the way it came off so it's done.
