still waiting for manual to get to my house!!! anyone know the chain slop for a 2001 883? need help and just wanna ride

Check you owners manual or service manual to be sure (usually the dealer will printout the service note if you ask him nice)...otherwise look at this excerpt from the Self Help section:

Per the 2001 HD shop manual:
-check freeplay at the tightest chain position
-cold 3/8"-1/2"
-hot 1/4"-3/8"
