please help!

i have a 98 sportster 1200s and i have oil leaking from my clutch cable from the place where it adjusts half way up it appears to me to be primary oil but im not sure on what would cause it to push oil up the clutch cable

The only reason I know of for there to be oil level that high is a leaking crankshaft seal that is allowing engine oil to be pushed into the primary/trans case. You need to check your primary/transmission oil level. If it is what I said, it will cause a mess when you open the inspection cover.
