I bought the bike used and didnt get a manual. If you can confirm that would be great!

engine takes 4 quarts, fill new oil filter about 3/4 way before installing and pour about 3 1/2 quarts in bike, drive bike about 5 miles to warm up to operating temp then check oil level and fill just below full mark (do not over fill)

Just be careful you are using quart containers and not liter bottles.
Liter bottles = 1.056 qts.

Possibly can accidently add too much.

I don't think it will take 4 quarts. That is it's capacity when totally empty. On the drain it still has some in it. On my 05 Heritage I change my filter and fill it they pour in the remainder of 3 qts. It's almost up to the full mark.

How many of you preload the new oil fliter with oil? I have never ever done this. Do you really think that this is necessary?

Thanks

I never pre fill the filter when doing an oil change. There should be enough oil in the critical areas to cover you on a start up without pre filling the filter.
