neutral lite stopped working

I've noticed for the last 3 days the nuetral lite has been getting less brighter
well today it went out all together I unplugged the wire and grounded it out and the light went on Is the switch hard to change or could there be anything else that I could try before this

More than likely the switch. It just unscrews from the trans. I replaced 3 of them in my 07 until they upgraded the part to a new design.
 
thank you glyder just on question it looks close to the sprocket will I have to remove the sprocket or can I just try and screw it out if the switch is shallow I can maybe remove it without pulling the whole assy. out any input on this will help

Thank you I'll go to harley and pick one up I did noticed the switch is wet around the boot so more than likley it is shot.
