Need Help...Normal Oil Usage???

I have a 08 SE Dyna.
It is using a quart of oil in 1000 miles.
Harley says this is considered normal consumption.
Let me know if you have this type of usage or not.
I would like to show them how abnormal this really is
with your feed back.
I will be contacting my attorney because I feel they aren't
going to do anything about it.

how many miles? for break in its about normal

You have to give a bit more info if you expect a logical reply. Without the info like mileage etc, it's easy to say it's too much oil usage.

1400 miles i would consider it normal unless you changed the oil at 1000 then used a quart in 400 miles need more info .. sorry were not mind readers

My 09 had 6 miles on it when I headed out for Arkansas. Changed the oil at 1000 miles, and have put another 1500 miles on her, with no oil consumption to speak of.

Sorry for the confusion...

OK here is the chronology..

I used 1 1/2 qts in the first 1000 miles before bringing it in for the 1k.
After getting it back I still saw usage and brought it back to dealer. They
kept bike for a few days (why I don't know) but the ran it and checked oil while they had it. Before I took it back they topped it off to the top x on the stick. Bike had about 1050 miles. Now I have about 1400 and it is down a 1/2 qt.

so you have used a half quart in 400 miles yeah thats a bit much

Yes... 3/8 to 1/2 a quart in 400.
