Bike is a 2004 XL883C
How many oz. of fork oil in each leg for a wet change?
2004 manual says 9 oz.
2006 manual says 11.6 oz.
Was wondering if the 04 manual has a mistake?

When I had my '07 Sportster I got conflicting info also, therefore since I did not have a leak in the forks, I measured what came out & put back the same. :s

My 07 FLHR manual calls the oil level to be set at a specific height from the top of the fork tube. You don't just put X oz. of oil in.

There are many out there that will tell you it doesn't matter, just put in 10 oz. and call it a day. For me it isn't a big deal to do it by the book.

Easiest thing is to drain the fluid out of each fork and measure...as Glider says adding two much CAN blow seals and make fork too stiff, but 1 or 2oz over what you take out would probably not be overfilling. Measure them separately...you may be surprised to find out they may not be the same, but should be pretty close to 9-10oz...BTW I put in 9 oz in and used 7.5W Bel Ray and it was fine.
