I'm a new female rider. I inherited a 2004 Sportster 1200 Custom. I took the MSF class and got my motorcycle endorsement. The bike sat for a very long time and needs to be fully checked and worked over. It goes to the mechanic this afternoon. I'm hoping to get it by the weekend so I can begin my practicing. I learned on a Honda Rebel 250. This is going to be a HUGE change for me!!! Any advice??? I'm sooooooo excited - something I've wanted all my life. But at the same time I am a bit intimidated by the bike. A little nervous. But they say that's good - always good to be a little scared because it makes you more alert and less cocky.

Take it slow. Practice in a vacant parking lot. You'll be comfortable in no time at all.
 
Hey heypaula316, so this is one item off your bucket list! Congrats on the new ride and like Bodeen says, slow and find a Big parking lot! Keep practicing the MSF starts, turns, and stops and welcome to the forum from the southwest desert.
