Greetings: Its great to be an American in America again.:

My bike should be off the boat and in land transit to MN.
After laying tracks across Vietnam the first major ride will be to Rolling Thunder.
On May 20 I'll catch up with the Vets Ride in Iowa. This will be my first R.T.

Any info on reasonable accommodations convenient to the R.T. activities will be appreciated. Any other related info is welcome also.

Thanks & Enjoy the Spirit

Oooops!
I should have been more specific.
I am referring to info in the DC area.
A list of hotels is with the ride route, and being totally unfamiliar with this I am doing something I don't often do = research before the ride LOL.

Thanks

So a few years back I did my first Rolling Thunder and decided to just wing it. Rode to DC and headed over to Patriot HD in Fairfax, VA. It's only a few miles out of DC. Went there and got all the info I needed. They had an organized, police escorted ride to the pentagon parking lot leaving the morning of the ride so I decided to meet there and go that route. It was pretty cool. I spent a couple years in CA so this year will be when I go again. Oh and there's plenty of rooms all over. Arlington is good, Alexandria can be hit and miss, DC is expensive so stay outside of the city. I've got friends in Arlington this time around so I'm staying there. Good luck and see ya there.

Have heard Patriot HD does it right. Look for something in Fairfax or Arlington. If you plan to ride other than just for RT, consider Chantilly, Dulles, Haymarket, or even as far west as Middleburg. Great country just west of there.

Battley Harley out of Gaithersburg, MD also has a escorted ride on the 26th @ 0830 . You can join the Pentagon group or the breakoff group to watch the events. You can park RIGHT BEHIND the Lincoln Memorial to get a great view with less crowd. SHORT walk to see the bikes at the Pentagon. If this is your first year, I would just sit out and watch. The Pentagon parking lot will be a ZOO (very hot with all the bikes out there).:D No matter how you do it, ENJOY the ride.

MC, I know you just came back from Nam but have you considered camping?
