Harley light bar

Just installed a light bar on my 1999 Fat Boy, Dealer says Yellow wire that is taped off in harness is the feed/power wire for spotlights. I found it ,run it to a switch then to spotlights, pretty simple, only one wire, When the bike is not running I turn the ignition key to "on" then turn the spotlight switch on/off ,works great. problem is when I start the bike and throw the spotlight switch "on" the engine stops dead, like turning off the ignition. Any one have an idea whats going on here??? Ross

I suggest you find yourself a service manual and figure out where else this yellow wire goes? Does it go to the ignition switch or any other ignition components? Is it blowing any fuses when this happens? Is any bare wire exposed to the frame possibly grounding it out?

Thanks for your interest, Dealer checked wiring diagram and the "Yellow" wire is correct which is the feed for spots, My guess is that if there is a bare wire it should short out ,blow a fuse ect. ?????
