Harley engine VIN code help

Hello----I just got a great deal on a bike that a friend does not want to finish. it's an after market frame (ult) with what he says is a 97ci Harley motor. can any one help with the motor Vin?? in the Vin how do I know it's a Harley and Year and Size...The Vin on the Left side of the motor is ALP501513 with a Star after the 3 thanks
