Handheld Microphone

Purchased a handheld microphone on ebay awhile ago. Just "plugged" it in to my din jack on tank console and the transmit push to talk button does nothing.
Checked it with ohm meter and it is working.
Any ideas why it doesn't work? Din plug was just replaced.
The ptt switch portion of mic is pins 3 and 7 counting counterclockwise.

one other question, mic ptt has two wires, red and black, you indicated one to pin 7, the other??

still unsure of how to wire 7 pin din. my mic has 5 wires. black, blue, red, white, and yellow with shield. yellow is mic, red and black are ptt switch.
can someone tell me which pins these 4 wires go to? mic yellow and shield, black and red??
i don't think the white and blue are needed. this is a handheld microphone
