OK Folks. I am gonna do it!!

Here is the marketing info on it:

I also ordered this to hold the iPhone:

Will let you know how it goes.

Cheers,

TQ

You must have been thinking about this for awhile, I remember you mentioning it in another thread somewhere.

Hope it works well for ya! Keep us updated.

re: Gonna do it! - V&H FP3

TQ,

That is REALLY one SLICK Tuner...

Looking at the vid, it sure takes the work out of the "Having to Know"...

Might be the way to go for many here...:s

I had to do a lot of LEARNING to program my SE pro tuner (not for everybody) and bought a Lap-top to boot... Before I tuned it myself, I WASTED 400$ for a poor DYNO tune... That Inspired me to do my own.
The unit you will use Looks EASY to install and tune from what I saw on the vid.

Never looked at the cost of this device...:shock:shock:shock Looked and see it IS Cheap at 389.95............

JUST the Saving of the Headaches of PC tuning, and Not having to use a dyno is a lot of saved wotrh-while $$$$$...

That Self Tune feature looked simple enough.:D

signed....BUBBIE

So here is the story:

The quickstart guide is a very user-friendly set of instructions that quickly gets the user set up and Bluetooth connection to the FP3 established (see pix below).

Vance Hines | Fuelpak FP3 Quick Start

Once connected, the next step is to pick the configuration of the bike wrt exhaust and engine (I think V&H assumes a high flow AC - Stage 1).

Once set, then click on the option to get and flash the ECM with the new map. Note - the current base map is uploaded to V&H prior to downloading and flashing the ECM in case the user ever wants to go back to the original map (for some reason?!!!).

This is a very easy process and took no more than 30 minutes from start to finish (including removing and re-installing the seats!!)

To elaborate on the process, when I first attempted to do this, I could not get the process to complete - the FP3 kept giving me an error message. So I contacted Technical Support at V&H in CA and worked through the problem with them. A tech named Arsenio (sp?) said he would look into it and to call back the next day. When I did, another Tech said that Arsenio was programming some fixes to the app, and instructed me to delete the FP3 app off my iPhone and reload it after 9p my time (Central). I did all that, and the changes they made at V&H worked like a CHAMP:

A BIG SHOUT-OUT TO THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP AT VANCE & HINES! Especially Arsenio!!! Thanx a bunch. TQ

The new map has really made a difference in the way the engine performs. The backfiring on decel (zero throttle) is gone replaced by the familiar low Harley rumble. Excellent! That popping was VERY annoying.

Throttle response is crisp. We will see how the fuel economy fares, although the right hand may not be disciplined enough to give me a good comparison!!

Can't wait to play with the other features of the FP3 like real-time monitoring of the sensor it can provide. Will be interesting to see the AFR settings under various operating conditions.

I will check back in with more details when I have some. So far, so good!!!

Cheers,

TQ
