Fuel Indicator Lights Blinks

Hello All,
I have a 2007 XL1200 Sportster Custom and it has just started a fuel indicator light blink. It has only done it twice in the last week and a half but I'm wonder if this can be the start of problem? If anyone has experienced this can you let me know what to do or expect?

The indicator light is triggered by a resistance change from the sender unit in the tank as the fuel level drops. If it is acting up, it's usually an indication of a bad gauge.

Do you know if it is an expensive fix?
