I had one fail years ago so I bought four. When it happened the second time, they crumbled in my hand when I tried to use them.
My solution was to cut a short piece of fuel line. I think it was 3/8. Squeeze it a few times to soften it up a bit and slide it on.
It might be a safety issue if you bind the cutting tool so use at your own risk.
