Was the first year of the softail 1988? What did the softail replace? How many different softail models have there been since?
Just some questions that I've always had.....figured this is the place to finally gettem answered.

The soft tail did not replace any model @ the time, The MOCO wanted a retro look with hidden shocks to appear to be a hard tail:s
