Here is my riding buddy's 1990 FXR-P. Started life as a police bike but when he purchased it most of the equipment, but not the wiring, was removed and the engine changed out to an S & S. He was told the engine is an 89 ci and we know the compression is high as it chewed up starters like candy.

He has since added compression releases, a Low Rider tank and instruments, Wide Glide raked front end with dual front brakes, bits and pieces of chrome, couple different exhaust systems, paint and powder coatings, and the original style handle bars. It had the original floorboards, which he sold and replaced with forward pegs. The windshield is an original HD as is the seat/pillion which he prefers over the Mustang it came with.

He's debating on replacing the spoked wheels with a set of stock cast wheels, and at a future engine rebuild increasing the cylinder bore. Anyone know to what size is appropriate?

Any thoughts or comments? As an aside, while he owned this he purchased a 2009 EG Classic rental with 24k miles which he put an additional 50k on, and which he just sold. He is keeping the FXR.

Measure the height of the cylinders, that may already be a S S stroker

Looks like 5 5/8" +/- 1/16. Stroker? If so, how much can he bore the cylinders and still be OK, a 16th maybe, up to a 93 ci or thereabouts?

Runs strong now but always looking for a bit more.
