Will a stock carb off a 2006 sportster fit a 1996 sportster?

I would say yes, although the 2006 Sportster did have a Catalyst Silencer on one side, so EPA mandated jetting may be a little different. But the CV carb has not changed much over the years, since about 1990's. Check the part numbers regarding exploded diagrams and compare the specs...regarding specifics. Look in the Self Help section for diagrams and recommended jetting.
