Colored inserts in tailpipe?

I'm reading the Retro Racer article in the Aug. 2010 issue of V-Twin magazine and I notice the bike has what looks like red inserts in the tailpipes. The text does not mention them at all and I'm wondering if these are part of the tailpipe, part of the baffles, or just a decorative ceramic insert of some kind. These would make a great add to my black Deluxe. The article only says they are Rick Doss pipes, but I surfed online and could not find any Doss exhaust components (lots of lights and bling, however). Any ideas?

Why not call the mag. up and ask them? It's in there they should be able to tell you about the bike or know someone you can talk to.
