can anyone please tell me how to turn engine over at starter (bypass ignition) so I can perform a cold compression test?

Why? I have never done that to perform a compression test. Make sure you have a fully charged battery; remove spark plugs; connect tester; hold throttle wide open and spin the motor through 5-7 revolutions or until the gauge stops moving. If carbureted, remove the carb from the boot before test.:hii

Dolt has you covered here, if compression is low add some oil thru plugs holes and re read and compare your readings

Test came out good. Both cyl s hitting around 170 lbs. . . very GOOD NEWS for me.

Bypass electronic ignition - - otherwise could burn it out.
The few revolutions you have to do to check the compression won't hurt the electrical system.
