clutch cover removal

Hello, do I need to replace the gasket on the clutch release cover? I am removing it and changing to a longer cable for some new 18" bars. Thanks for the input.

The gasket costs about 3-5€ if I remember correctly.
Since it didn't break the bank and for my own peace of mind, I replaced it when changing out the clutch cable.

Happy wrenching!

p.s. welcome to the forum!

Best practice is anytime you remove something that had a gasket it should be replaced with a new gasket

If you're talking about the cover on the side of the transmission where the clutch cable goes in, then yes, I would replace it.
If you're talking about the derby cover over the clutch basket, then no. On the 2008 RK the derby cover gasket is rubber and I reuse mine.

In my experinece they expand when they get hot or contact oil and can very difficult if not impossible to reinstall if they pop out of the grove when the cover is off. They are cheap and your dealer will have them in stock most of the time, cheap price to pay for sanity.
