clutch cable

serviced my deuce today and was going to adjust the clutch but there is not enough adjustment on the cable adjuster to let all the tension off.its a after market cable steel braided so i'm thinking the cable is a touch to short for the bike? next question how do you measure a clutch cable to find out if its the correct length?(with it off the motorcycle of corse)

With it out/off the bike measure the cable housing length. That's the entire length
including all the threads on the tranny end. Then pull the cable all the way to one end and measure it's Travel length from the end of the housing to the end of the inner cable. Total housing length and Travel vary by models. You can find this info on page
1011 & 1012 of Drag Specialties Fat Book. Page 1012 should show your stock length.
