Classic HD's

Quick question. Does anybody know of any websites where you can look at old HD's?? I want to see pics and specs on older bikes and see how the line has progressed. I think it would be neat to read about tried and failed models and see which ones survived the longest. From the beginning, through the AMF years up to today. Thanks.

Thanks guys, those are great! Should keep me busy for a while. Keep 'em coming if you have any more resources!!

Tidings, Sir I would like make a suggestion. If you have not read it...bag a copy of 100 Years of Harley Davidson by Willie G. Davidson copywrite 2002.

From your post I think this book will shed much light on the subject you are interested in. It answered many HD details I had thought about. The book new in 2003 was 65 dollars, but now you can purchase it "online" at Amazon or Barnes and Noble for 20 dollars more cheaper. :newsmile093:

Yes it is nice to look at images online, but a tangible hard back book written by someone that grew up in this company, is a treasure trove of information.

After reading this book you can truly see the evolution of the machines. Hence if you follow the "pedigree" of HD it all leads to what we know today as the "Touring Frame" models.:)

That's my 2 cents worth.

I wonder how many 50th anniversary Sporters were made in 2007? It is not practical, but when it comes to a sporters...I love the "peanut tank", like my brother had on his 1991 883. His original peanut tank had been removed after which he gave it to me...I have it stored in my bedroom...:D
