Cherry red pipe!!!

Hey Guys,

Has anyone had a problem with the front exhaust pipe glowing red on a 2008/2009 XL883 and lots of engine noise? Lean Maybe?

You're not the first to have glowing pipes. It's the new lean mixtures that are causing other problems as well.

While sitting still. I also have a noise that sounds like piston slap while I'm going down the road between 60-65 in 5th gear with a vibration.

Sporties are noisy bikes. You may want to take it back to the dealer so they can tell you "they all do that" :s

My Sportster made that noise and had the vibration, and yes the dealer told me they all do that. Alot of the noise went away after the first oil change (changed to synthetic) and the vibration all went away after the muffler change, intake change, and race tuner. The Sportster is like it had an engine change. Free and smooth.:57:

I found I get alot less of that"Hic-cupping" if I add an ounce of Stabile every second or third tank of gas. I also seem to get better mileage. :small3d009:
