Charging problem

I have a "93 FLHS with 70K on it. I has let me down as far as starting occasionally. It would not start twice over the weekend and I checked it and it was only putting out 10.5V at idle and only about 12V when I reved it up. How do I determine if it is the stator or voltage regulator that is the problem? How difficult is it to change the stator?

Check out the self help section and the search function. Should be enough charging system information to keep you busy for day's.
Here is a good start. Harley Davidson Community

The hardest part of changing the stator on a '93 is removing the clutch hub which requires a special diaphragm spring compression tool. The clutch hub and compensating sprocket assy. are removed as a unit.

First things first, check the charge of the battery, check the stator plug, the plugs have been known to work loose, then follow Bodeens charging system tip Good Luck and report back what you find:s
