I've only had my XL1200C for about a month and the carb has slippped out of the inlet rubber twice and I'm left wth the carb hanging on the cable and fuel line. What's meant to hold it in? Is the air box meant to be secured to the breathers? Can somebody help.

The air box on my old 1200 is fastened solid to the bike with metal straps, and holds the carb in. I'm sure yours should be too.

Problem solved. It seems that the knurled steel inserts in the plastic back plate of the aircleaner box had broken loose (they should be bonded into the plastic).I just fitted 7/8" O/D X 1/2"I/D washers onto the hollow breather allen screws. And now the whole thing is solid.
Thanks for the input King Herald.
