Can later model seats fit a 1990 1200?

I've had a search around the forum, but can't find any info. So, I see loads of later model stock seats on Fleabay in the UK, selling far cheaper than a $400 after market stuff, so I'm wondering if one will fit my 1990 Sporty. Or can be modded to fit.

I'm good with metal fab, making brackets and such, so is it possible/worth the effort, bearing in mind the high prices of Harley after market stuff in the UK.

I really don't like the look of the fat stock 1990 seat, looks like a large wrinkly maggot crawling across the frame rails.:15:

I could have the stock seat for covering distance, and a skinny one for looking good, if later models can be made to fit.

would be a fair amount of work as the frames are different from 2004 onwards

As long as it sits in the right position I'm hoping it might be doable, with a bracket or two made. Hopefully the frame is not like 6" wider on the late model or some other such drama.

If it requires four days welding then it's obviously not worth the hassle. :sd
