Cam cover

I am about to install a chrome cam cover on my '02 Superglide. I have never removed the cover and was wondering if I will have to drain the oil before removing. I'm pretty sure most of the oil should be in the pan but would rather be safe than sorry.

If you leave the bike on the jiffy stand 90% of the oil will remain in the cam chest, but put a catch pan under the cam chest to catch the 10% that will come out.
