Back in the saddle on Long Island

Rode for over twenty years; stopped for twenty years because of family influence. But now that I am 60, I can do as I please!

My 1971 kick start Sportster is long gone, and I have had a variety of vertical twins since.

Since I like bikes stripped looking and agile; looking at Sportsters again: 1200c or 48. Wonder if the suspension is more forgiving on one? Fat front tires equal better handling?

Short test drives don't tell the whole story so I am looking forward to tapping all the experience you folks graciously share.

Oddly enough, my given name is Harley!

Welcome to the forum. Test rode a 48 right after they hit the dealers, good handling but that small gas tank won't get you very far. The new sportsters are rubber mounted and the suspension is much improved from your kick start model.
