Axle Nut Covers problem

Good day all, I recently bought some front axle covers (pt. no. 44116-07A)for my V-Rod VRSCDX 10th Anniversary model. They don't fit the bike, despite being told they will. Has any body experienced this on their V-Rod; the covers are too large to fit into the spotface, or recess, on the bottom of the forl leg. The dealer who sold the parts is not interested in fixing the problem, other than a refund. He's missed the point I think. I wanted the covers on the bike and was trying to find a solution. Anyway, any help will be gratefully received; thanks in advance.

Hi Hal, Thanks for the info. Shame H-D have not checked this and saved some problems. There seems to be a very limited number of bits for the later VRSC models. Strange though, when you think the inverted forks have been on H-D's for a couple years now.
