If the bike has been married to a sert, can something other than that be added to the system? Trying to get around having to go to the dealer to tune it if I do other modifications.

Yes, if you add a different tuner the new tuner will override the SERT and accept the new tune.

But, if You download the software and buy the cables,You can Smart tune the SERT Yourself.Cheaper than buying a new tuner.
