60w in texas

Thats what Ithought Iam useing Lucas 20/50 syn. The reason Iasked is Iam getting oil misting from the air cleaner Ithought heavy oil might stop it. Has anyone used reed valve thing that S&S cycle says will stop the misting ?

Stick with 20- 50, are you over full on oil, or quite possible mis aligned oil pump, check out the self help section:D
 
oil level is 3qt 8oz per dealer tec

Try a bit less next oil change and see how it does, My Streetbob likes to run a bit less than what the manual says remember there is always some oil left in the case and oil galleries when you do an oil change:s
 
If it's got a lot of miles on it I would put 60wt in it with the heat of Texas. And the heavy tranny grease, syn in both.
 
Does anyone run 60W oil in TC engines The book says 60W above 80 deg . Any thoughts on this? : :D

According to Redline's website they sell a synthetic 20w-60 if you're concerned with running in the higher Texas temps.

If you go that route, then oil flow on cold starts would be solved.
