2007 Heritage Front Fender Removal Issue

I'm trying to get the front fender off of a 2007 Heritage Softail Classic. The problem is the wire harness for the fender tip light runs through the fender. The service manual says to disconnect the tip light but that doesn't do any good because the plug is larger than the feed-through holes in the fender. I've unplugged the connector just behind the tip light assembly, but I can't find the disconnect for the other end. Is there something I'm missing here? I really don't want to cut wires and splice them back together when reinstalling the fender.

I wouldn't cut the wires. If you have access to a repair manual, it shows how to disassemble the connector.
