2005 Road King Cold Exhaust

I have an 2005 Road King - FLHRI and I noticed that the left pipe is cold. The bike runs fine - is that a dummy pipe, or just a dummy riding it?

Welcome to the forum.

If it is stock exhaust it has a crossover that connects the right to the left. Since the headers run out the right side the exhaust gas takes the path of least resistance and the majority goes out the right side. That being said, when you roll into it hard the left will start to flow.

Welcome to The Forum, Stock exhaust the left pipe is a falsey until you roll on the throttle:s

Just look around. Baggers with stock exhaust almost all have one pipe with soot in the end and the other one clean.

Got any charts or graphs of that response?

Enjoy,
Rich P

The new 2009 Touring exhaust system not only reduces heat to the rider and passenger but also should improve performance because the collector should even out exhaust flow through each muffler while providing better scavenging. With pre-2009 Touring exhaust systems, roughly 3/4 of the exhaust was directed through the right-side muffler.
